Dear Mommy, when I was one everything was
new for me, except our dog was my best friend.
Remembering you Mommy will be timeless. When I
was two, my eyes got bigger to see everything to no end.
Even if my words were not clear, love in my eyes
were, yet this imprint will last forever in my mind.
As my tiny voice tries to call you on my last night here,
my tiny hands reach out as our dog I did find.
Miss you Mommy I will, my teardrops dry up
as fast as I have them in the heat of the flames.
So me and our dog sleep to dream of the day when we
will see you again, I hope you will remember our names.
A two year old boy and his dog were reflected in this poem when they both died in a fire with the boy’s arms around the dog, never leaving his side.
