my girlfriend broke up with me, as you wiped the tears.

THANK YOU MOM when I had a bad dream and you
held onto me until I went back to sleep with no fears.

THANK YOU MOM as you gave me my favorite piece
of candy to ease me as I was getting ready to wed.

THANK YOU MOM most of all, for bringing me into this world
of ours, words of love can never be enough to be said.

NO THANK YOU MOM when you left me when my child
was only five, God needed you too I guess.

THANK YOU MOM, from my son, who tells me at your grave you wiped his tears and gave him a piece of candy while holding his hand, true, the wrapper you could not miss.
